Francois Chidaine 2007 Biodynamic Vouvray & Montlouis
"Francois Chidaine is one of the fastest rising stars in the Loire Valley..." Wine & Spirits Magazine
At last, the remarkable 2007 Chenin Blancs from Francois Chidaine have landed. As usual they will sell out quickly. Too many wine lovers know their secrets! Great Loire Chenin can rival the finest whites on the planet and Francois Chidaine makes Chenin like no other. As such, they represent fabulous bargains. François Chidaine has quickly gone from "...rising star of the Loire" to bonafide "star" of French winemaking. Some, such as American wine merchant Dan Berkley have called him "...the pre-eminent producer of Chenin Blanc in the world." We would of-course add, "...along with Noel Pinguet of Domaine Huet". Regardless, the reality is that today, François Chidaine, who was a close friend and confidant of the late Didier Dagueneau, is one of the hottest white wine makers in France. He also makes a very tasty Touraine Sauvignon. To buy the 2007 Francois Chidaine wines please Click here!
Racy Chablis from Bernard Defaix
"The improvement at this estate has been nothing short of phenomenal and as the scores and individual wine reviews suggest, this is a flat out spectacular group of wines and in both vintages. Chablis fans should add the Defaix brothers to their short list of rising stars." Allen Meadows, Burghound, Issue 24
The well priced 2007s from this excellent Chablis Domaine have now landed and they are as delicious here as they were in France. 2007 is a vintage that will excite lovers of the 'classic' style of Chablis i.e., the racy, tangy, citrus and oyster-shell noted whites that we have seen so little of in recent years. And Bernard Defaix is an estate producing some wonderful Chablis at remarkably good prices. The 2007 wines are pure, vibrant and textural. Chablis from Bernard Defaix please click here: Click here!

Quinta do Noval Noval has put enormous resources in to its Tawny ports over the last decade and quality is now at the highest echelon. Made from predominantly Tinta Roriz (known to us as Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa and Tinta Barroca, (with the exception of the 40yo which is predominantly Touriga Nacional), these wines have been matured in large oak barrels and do not develop with bottle age. They are ready to drink now and last for months (preferably refrigerated or from a wine fridge) after being opened.
Noval’s Tawny Port is an elegant, fleshy wine with good richness and a fresh, tangy finish. Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesca and Tinta Barroca are the major grape varieties, all from the Estate and traditional, “A” category suppliers. This wine is aged 3+ years in big oak vats before the final blending and bottling. An intense brick color, it has a complex nose showing youthful raspberry fruit and anise. On the palate it is medium sweet, with rich fruit and a fresh finish. Try it slightly chilled as an aperitif as they do at the estate (and in France), or enjoy at room temperature with a dessert or with coffee.
